David committed the greatest sin of his life when he disobeyed God and counter or numbered the children of Israel. His obsession to count the priest was, do to the fact that there were none. The priest had grown idol and ineffective. To counteract his great sin his last command as king was to change the age of the priesthood from 30 yrs old to 20 yrs old. This is "The Priesthood".
